Uvjeti: upisan 3. ili 5.; 4. ili 6. semestar
Ispit: kontinuirano praćenje (prvi kolokvij sredinom semestra i drugi kolokvij u posljednjem tjednu nastave (u konačnu ocjenu ulazi i seminarski rad, pohađanje nastave, te aktivnost na satu).
Cilj: Cilj je kolegija upoznati studente s najznačajnijim pjesnicima engleskog romantizma te povijesnim, kulturnim, političkim i estetskim okružjem u kojem su stvarali i na koje su snažno utjecali. Studenti će imati priliku promišljati i analizirati odabrane pjesme, te će u dijalogu s nastavnikom stvoriti osobno viđenje pjesnika te ideoloških i estetkih implikacija njihove poezije s kraja 18. i prvih desetljeća 19. stoljeća. U tom će im pomoći niz kritičkih tekstova, od (novo)historističkih pa sve do post-strukturalističkih pristupa romantizmu.
Sadržaj: Kolegij će se kroz stvaralaštvo Blakea, Wordswortha, Coleridgea, Byrona, Shelleya i Keatsa baviti nekim temeljnim romantičarskim konceptima kao što su pjesničko nadahnuće, sjećanje na prošlost, sublimnost, deizam i misticizam, odnos subjekta i prirode te subjekta i jezika. Pobuna protiv društvenih nepravdi, osjećaj za «malog» čovjeka, želja za stapanjem s prirodom, osjećaj usamljenosti i odbačenosti samo su neke od osnovnih osobina romantičarskog pjesnika koji sâm postaje središnjom temom svojih pjesama. Tematska okosnica cijelog kolegija je društveni angažman pojedinih pjesnika u njihovom nastojanju da budu priznati ‘zakonodavci svijeta’ (Shelley).
